I went here with a group of Chinese speaking friends because my guide book said that it is a sight of interest but very limited English information. However I think the museum has been updated greatly since my guidebook was published. All information was available in Chinese and English, very informative and beautiful artworks!

This is a great place to take a family for a day out. There are plenty of activities for the kids to get involved in and for out of Hsinchu visitors, it presents a good idea of the glass making industry in Hsinchu and a bit of an understanding of the layout of the city (there it a giant 3D map). There isn't really a lot to see here for adults without kids, and you could do the whole museum in under 90 minutes in that situation.

You could take your kids there for a whole day by buying the package tickets in a very reasonable price, especially when you are Hsinchu citizen with a Hsinchu citizen card. Cultural glass ware are pretty attractive and kids could practice how ancient beauties are.

Small Museum but fun to see the beautiful glass artwork with a dash of history. The artifacts are updated quite regularly and gives an insight into evolution of Hsinchu as center of glass manufacturing to a semiconductor tech hub.

This museum used to be the residence of Japanese Governor when Taiwan was still its colony. It is well-kept until today and the Japanese style structural detail is worth taking a good look at, too. Inside, there are creative arts of glass on display. The craftsmanship is amazing. Not only art exhilbition, there is also an area explaining the process how glass is made. Very informative. Outside, there is a square whose floor is made of wood board along with a stylish pool in which carp swimming around. Kind of Chinese. Visiting this museum, I could appreciate the atmosphere of delicate cultural combination and leisurely spend an afternoon wandering.
